Gemini AI and its Vertex AI technology have teamed with Honeywell to integrate into the latter’s industrial data network.

The partnership intends to revolutionize sectors such as aerospace, healthcare, manufacturing, and energy by offering AI-driven insights that improve productivity and shorten maintenance times, according to a news release issued Monday by Honeywell.

Google’s Gemini AI technology on Vertex AI will be integrated with Honeywell’s Forge IoT system beginning in 2025. Through this collaboration, industrial companies will be able to improve their operations by utilizing Google’s sophisticated multimodality and natural language capabilities.

Honeywell said that by combining Google’s AI capabilities with its experience in industrial data, workers in industrial settings will be able to access AI-powered solutions that help advance their operations beyond simple predictive analytics.

Collaboration to Address the Labor Shortage

With this collaboration, Honeywell hopes to help address the industrial sector’s increasing manpower and skill shortages, which are mostly brought on by the baby boomer generation’s retirement.

According to the organization, businesses are having trouble fulfilling demand and sustaining productivity as there are fewer competent people available. AI is viewed as the remedy that will not only

enable less seasoned employees to do activities at a higher level while promoting income creation and preventing job loss.

Additionally, Honeywell is investigating the deployment of Gemini Nano, an on-device AI, in places with poor connection, like refineries and rural hospitals.

It stated that localized AI solutions will function without internet access and provide a new degree of autonomy for industries in rural areas, but it made no indication of when this will be implemented.
