The Scorpionissima Abarth 600e, Fiat’s performance sub-brand Abarth, has been unveiled as “the most powerful Abarth ever,” according to the manufacturer.

With a 207kW electric motor designed to produce 280 horsepower, this fiery electric hot hatch is based on the conventional 600e, which is the larger sibling of the 500e. The brand claims that it generates the most power ever achieved by an Abarth vehicle and was tested utilizing Formula E technology.

Inspired by the 1960s Abarth 850 TC, Abarth has produced an aggressively styled body modification that incorporates flared wheel arches, a noticeable rear spoiler, and a reworked front grille to set this model out from its rather bland Fiat crossover predecessor.

Massive 380mm brakes have been fitted to guarantee it stops, and the Italian brand has added wider and more grippy Michelin Pilot Sport EV tires to preserve the performance on the road (or on track).

The Abarth 600e can turn more precisely thanks to Stellantis Motorsport’s stiffer suspension, and Sabelt bucket seats provide better support so that drivers and passengers aren’t slung around the cabin during especially aggressive driving.

The powerful 600e retains the normal car’s 7.25-inch digital driver’s display and 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, despite the inclusion of several scorpion badges and Abarth-inspired insignias throughout the cabin.

According to the brand, Abarth has included a race gauges website that gives drivers a G-diagram and a timer, enabling them to experience what it’s like to drive a Formula E car.

However, the Abarth 600e achieves 207 miles on a full battery charge, compared to the slightly more practical Fiat 600e counterpart’s claimed 252 miles, thanks to its improved performance and wider tires.

Since cars are expected to arrive in Europe early next year, there is currently no indication on the price. While a much less aggressive, 240-hp Abarth 600e Turismo will also be sold in greater quantities, the Scorpionissima will only be available in two colors and 1,949 units.

Choosing the top-of-the-line Scorpionissima variant will earn you the same contentious “sound generator” that was initially seen on the Abarth 500e. The system simulates the sound of its gasoline-powered vehicles using external speakers. According to Abarth, the exhaust note has been enhanced for the peppery 600e, producing a richer sound at low speeds and under revs, and it will fade away as the car reaches 50 mph or more. But it’s probably just as annoying.
